Emily has accomplished many things in her short life, but one thing she is most proud of is that all of this has been accomplished as a “homeschooler.” The night she won the title of “Distinguished Young Woman,” one of the first things she said was that she couldn’t wait to compete as a homeschooler at the Alabama program and be a representative of how great homeschooling can be. Emily’s after graduation plans include a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Communication. College choice depends on scholarship opportunities.

Sophia is a talented reader and thinker. She was able to hold her own, even surpass, many of the college students in this class. She was always prepared. A contemplative person by nature, she really absorbed some fairly deep concepts and was a contributing member to the class. She speaks knowledgeably and writes persuasively. She has opinions but is open to others and possesses a true spirit of humility. Sophia wants to pursue a college education that will enhance her dream and calling to work with children, youth, and families by using animal and art therapy.

Paul has shown his understanding of events and concepts that were well beyond his years. In scouts, Paul was great with explaining concepts to the younger scouts and if there was an area where we needed a scout to fill in, he was willing to do it even if he wasn’t excited about it. He would step in to fill the need while having a good attitude. Paul has been accepted to the University of Alabama at Huntsville for fall 2020. He received a full-tuition scholarship and was accepted to the honors college. He will be studying aerospace engineering and hopes to one day work for NASA.

Jacob is intelligent, but he is also creative and persistent. He is a masterful chef and baker, a carpenter, pen maker, musician, and a Life Scout on his way to Eagle. He understands how to be a part of any group and I feel that sets him apart as a remarkable lifelong student. Along with his many student successes, I have also witnessed Jacob as a kind, dedicated, and motivational piano teacher. Jacob plans to pursue a four-year accounting degree and then have a career in IT auditing.

Jalynn’s successes and accomplishments are not just in the fields of work/volunteer and academia. She is one of the sweetest, most respectful, insightful, mature, and precious students I have ever had the joy of teaching! Jalynn is planning on going to college to become a veterinarian, with a feline-based specialty. Upon graduation, Jalynn’s innovative idea is to promote what she refers to as “Stewardship Vet Clinics” staffed with specialists from multiple animal categories, devoted to applying Christian principles to dedicated, excellent animal care.
